Every business outcome you produce is the output of human behavioral systems.
SWIM™ makes those systems visible.
Welcome to the highest standard in organizational behavior.
What’s driving behavior in your workforce is driving your bottom line.
Leaders assume they have people problems. But workforce behavior is a systems problem. Each outcome your organization produces – revenue, retention, operational efficiency, customer experience – is the output of human behavioral systems.
Strategic Workforce Insight Mapping (SWIM™) is the methodology that makes those systems visible, identifies the environmental conditions driving the behaviors you keep getting, and produces a precise map of where and how to change them.
The science is undeniable.
And so are the outcomes.
People’s behavior is rational.
Change the environmental variables – and you change their behavior.
The behaviors that cost your organization money have causes. Turnover, execution failures, communication breakdowns, vacant positions, and cultural friction that survives every intervention – these are system outputs. They are predictable responses to environmental conditions that can be identified, mapped, and changed. When the conditions change, the behavior changes with them.
The higher leaders rise in an organization, the less ground-level information they receive. The people who would give them the unvarnished truth become fewer. The gap between how leadership believes the organization functions and how it actually functions quietly widens – until the cost of that gap shows up in the numbers.
SWIM™ closes it. It produces a map of the specific environmental conditions driving workforce behavior, giving executive teams the diagnostic precision to intervene where it matters and stop applying solutions to the wrong problems.
Why surveys & trainings don’t work.
When well-intentioned companies want to listen to employees and solve front-line problems, they go to the conventional bag of tricks: surveys and trainings.
Engagement surveys are quick, cheap, and easy to administer. They are also built on management assumptions, measure symptoms rather than causes, and routinely leave leadership with more questions than answers.
Training follows the same pattern – efficient to deploy, rarely effective in practice. When employees already believe leadership is out of touch, a lecture-format session confirms it. Neither approach surfaces the environmental conditions driving the behaviors you’re trying to change.
Go deeper with SWIM.
SWIM™ develops an objective, in-depth answer to a deceptively simple question: “What is it like to be an employee here?”
The methodology works through structured one-on-one interviews across a systematic sample of your workforce – designed to surface patterns, not individual complaints. These interviews follow a clinical framework adapted from psychodynamics and family systems theory, treating the organization as a discoverable system with predictable dynamics. The qualitative data that emerges is categorized, cross-referenced, and mapped into a quantitative picture of how your organization actually functions.
The output is not a report that says morale is low. It is a map that shows exactly why morale is low in specific departments, why people are leaving in others (hint: it’s never money) which communication pathways are broken and what breaks them, and where the system is generating the very problems leadership keeps trying to solve through hiring, training, or reorganization. It tells you exactly which levers to pull at a surgical level to drive the behavioral outcomes your leadership experience craves.

Actionable information
SWIM™ produces objective data representative of your entire organization – always geared toward immediate action. Every finding connects to a specific environmental condition you can address. Nothing lands without a corresponding intervention pathway.
Deeper understanding through powerful analytics
Wayforward’s analytical infrastructure was originally developed in conjunction with the Data Analytics Department at SUNY University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Management. In 2025, that foundation was significantly expanded through the integration of Claude, Anthropic’s enterprise AI platform, enabling deeper pattern recognition and qualitative data synthesis in our engagements.
All client data is processed exclusively within Wayforward’s private Anthropic Enterprise account. Under Anthropic’s Commercial Terms of Service, Wayforward’s client data is never used to train AI models, is not accessible to other users, and is not sold or shared with third parties. What your people tell us stays with us.
The result is a level of diagnostic precision that cuts through organizational complexity to produce findings leadership can act on immediately – and return to as the organization evolves. SWIM reports serve as decision-making guideposts for our clients’ leadership teams for years to come.
A clear path forward
SWIM™ would be worth its salt if it stopped at the most comprehensive map of workforce behavior your leadership team has ever had. But it goes beyond that. Workforce Insight Mapping must be highly actionable. It generates solid recommendations, action plans, and a built-in organizational development project manager. Every engagement ends with your leadership team knowing exactly where to intervene, exactly what kind of intervention will change outcomes, and how to avoid approaches that would simply relocate the dysfunction rather than resolve it.
Executive Insights
SWIM™ practitioners are not HR generalists. They are former senior executives who have operated at the C-Suite level and know what information actually moves organizations forward. They are also skilled at building trust and good will with front-line employees – the people who hold the unfiltered picture of what is actually occurring at the ground level when rubber meets the road with your strategy. That combination is what produces a diagnostic your leadership team can act on with confidence.
Value-First Pricing: Aligning Costs with Outcomes
The SWIM™ engagement fee is 1% of base payroll. We index to payroll rather than headcount or revenue because payroll is the most accurate single measure of human-system complexity — it reflects not just how many people you employ, but what kind of work they do, where they do it, and how your compensation structure shapes organizational behavior. For clients engaging us with specific intent — strategic planning, leadership alignment, workforce restructuring — the structure is the same: one fee covers the full engagement.
A $5M payroll organization invests $50,000. A $25M payroll organization invests $250,000. Every client receives the same methodology, the same depth of analysis, and the same deliverables regardless of size.
For small businesses, engagement minimums apply. Contact us to discuss pricing tailored to your situation.
Redefine your organization's future with Wayforward.
